    Hi,

I download DVD rips from a torrent site and they average 700mb.

So I think putting 3 onto a single DVDr is leaving sufficient space!

Thing is, I don't know what aspect ratio to pick. I've only ever done one DVDr using ConvertXtoDVD and I picked 'automatic' and put 3 different DVD-rips on it.

Trouble is, the finished videos are stretched and you can tell this because the opening credits show names half missing on screens and only showing the surnames!

I don't know what aspect ratio to pick! I have in my bedroom a big square TV but I don't just want it to play on that, I want them to play on potential future buys which will most likely be widescreen!

Any help would be great thanks!

    Hi there,

Personally, I would not put more than 2 x 700mb .AVI on 1 single DVD5.

But try 3, and see if the quality is still pretty good :)

Leaving the Aspect to Automatic is a good idea, specially if you have 1 x 4:3 and 1 x 16:9 movie in the same project.

Now, to properly see 16:9 movies on your TV, make sure your DVD Player is set to 4:3 Letterbox and not 4:3 Pan & Scan.

    Cheers mate!

Although I don't know if my DVD player has letterbox, pan and scan, etc modes because it's a cheapy! lol

I'm away at the moment but as soon as I return home on Friday, I will give that a try!

    Thanks again!

The size of the original AVI is not relevant, only the running times matter.

Oh right, thanks for the tip!

What's the maximum run time you would put onto a Taiyo Yuden DVD-r?

That depends on the quality you require, the amount of action in the movie and the size of the TV you view on. If it's a small TV (27 inch) and a low action source, like a romantic comedy, you could probably go to almost 4 hours. You'll have to experiment. I have an Xvid converted copy of Once Upon A Time in America (mostly talking scenes) almost that long that looks fine on a 32 inch set.
