i'm using vegas for the first time. i'm just trying to record a guitar. going straight in didn't work so i ran it through an amp to push it. now it's working, but the sound isn't syncronized to my playing, it's delayed. the same is true when i try to record into ableton live. any wisdom out there?

You are experienceing what is Called "Latency" and is an issue when trying to record audio on to a PC especially if useing VST effects....

You need a Low latency Sound Card in your PC Like an Audigy 2 which would also give you Better audio recording quality and it would also be nice to get a Midi Pickup for your Guitar ,that way you can use all of the available Digital Effects and Make your guitar sound Like a Tuba or a Drum set or even a Dog Barking or sound like the Heaviest Guitar in the World or like a Soft Clasical Guitar.....

I don"t know a Lot about Making Music Digitally on the PC as I am More of an Old school Musician but I have done a Little bit and latency was the First Big Problem I had because it was allmost Impossible to Play allong with one Track when the sound would Come half a second Later and be out of Time with the First Track.....

I ended up getting a Much Better Sound Card and My Latency problem went allmost totally away...
If you had a Midi pickup put into your Guitar or just had a Midi Guitar you shouldn"t have latency problems......

Well anyways I hope this Helps a Bit.....Cheers
