I have a problem. For some reason the file transfers between my XBox and PC take FOREVER! It litteraly took six hours last night for me to transfer a few ROMS and Emulators from my PC to my Box. This is something new, because before it used to only take a few minutes. Is anyone else out there having these problems? Or could someone offer me some ideas of what may be wrong that I can fix the problem? Thanks in advance.
or if you're using a firewall made by mech then make sure its allowing the xbox through the ethernet.
Okay... I'm not exactly sure what you guys mean. The files are transfering without a problem. It's just taking FOREVER. It transfers at like .02KB a second. So you can imagine how long it takes. And between each and EVERY file, it stops saying that it is Queing or something like that. Could you be a bit more detailed about what I need to do? Sorry if I sound stupid or anything. Thanks again.
I wouild do the simple thing first and go through the FTP tutorial and make sure you have everything still setup right. Next replace your crossover cable. The cables are pretty sturdy but each time the twist ratio is disturbed the cable will be slower. Category-5 cable has each pair of wires in it twisted in different ratio, and then variously twisted as a group to help stop emi inside the cable. If you roll up your cable and unroll it a lot it will eventially go bad, they are made to be put in place and left alone not constantly moved, bent, crushed etc. Also eventually the wires can become loose in the connector and cannot be retightened. Hope that helps. For the two ansewr above, in the FTP tutorial is how to make sure your proper port is open and that your firewall is set up properly.
Yep you have this problem because of new version of flashfxp. The transfer rate is fast. But the problem is the flashfxp has to open and close connections for each files and folders. That is why the ftp process runs forever. The old version of flashfxp just opens 1 connection and ftp all files and folders to xbox. When done, close the connection. This way is much much faster. I dont know how to fix it yet. Hopefully, someone will point it out.
Where could I find an older copy of FlashFXP? Or is there any other program that I can use to do the same thing? Thanks for all the help guys. As for the cable being bad... I don't think that is the case. When I use Quix to back up a game from my hard drive to a burnt DVD, it goes by pretty quickly. About 10 minutes or so per game depending on the size. Plus the cable has not been moved since I hooked it up nearly six months ago.
I have heard of that program before I believe. Does it work pretty much the same? Or what are your experiences with that particular program?
I downloaded Filezilla and tried to set up the connection and it will not work at all. It keeps telling me that the directory could not be found. Could someone explain to me how to make it work. I honestly liked using Flash FXP but it makes me mad that they had to change it around and make it slower than crap.
Yip, I was having the same problem and wondering why it was taking so long for me to ftp stuff to my xbox, when I knew it didnt take that long 2 weeks ago when i was using an older version of flash ftp. I guess now they can let me out of this crazy house they put me in after i told my friend that it was goin slower than I remembered.
Well I fixed the problem on my own. I just got a copy of Flash FXP off of Limewire and now it works perfectly. Best thing is that I don't have to worry about redownloading it after 30 days because it is already registered! Thanks again for all the help and suggestions guys. I greatly appreciate it.
