I had everything set up perfectly. I was easily able to FTP from my computer to my Xbox a week ago.

    Life was good.)

Well, I just had my Comcast high speed internet installed and now nothing seems to be working for me anymore (before I was only using dial up).

I had two choices on the Comcast CD on how to connect to the internet. It was either using the USB cable or my Ethernet cable. For some dumb reason, I chose the Ethernet cable.

I can no longer connect with my Xbox using my crossover CAT 5 cable from my computer anymore.

I think I've tried about everything that I've read on this forum, including the easy way to FTP using windows explorer, (the pic tutorial).

I'm sure I have the same physical setup as I had before.

So what happened that is making things so difficult for me now?

I really need some help here.

    Thanks a bunch.)

Just a slight update to my problem.

If I pull out my ethernet cable, that I'm currently using to go online, and replace it with my crossover cable that's connected to my Xbox, this is what happens.

    Under Network Connections it shows:
    LAN or High Speed
    Acquiring Network Address

    This takes a few moments.

    Then it shows connected.

Shortly after I get a splash saying "Limited or no connectivity"

I do have my Firewall turned off, and again, I have the same physical set up as I used before.

Anyone have a clue as to what I'm missing here?

do you have a router? if not then put back in your cd and set it up to use USB then connect the Cat5 cable to the computer and connect to your xbox you may need to do system restore on your computer and/or reset your modem but it should work after that

    Thank you! Thank you!

Yeah, I don't have a router so I'm going to reinstall the cable internet right now using your suggestion.

Also, I don't have a clue how to do a system restore on my computer and/or reset my modem. I've tried looking for a way to completely uninstall my internet but I'm not finding the programming anywhere on my computer.

Well, I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.

    Ah nuts.

I tried for almost an hour trying to install my high speed internet using only the USB cable that came with the modem, but I had no such luck in doing so.

So I'm still using my ethernet cable in the back of my computer that's connected to my modem to go online.

When I pull the cable out and put in the crossover cable (I'm no longer online at that point) that I have connected with my Xbox, I'm still not getting any results like I had before.

Are there any screenshots or information that I can further pass along to you guys that would help you problem solve what I need to do so I can get back to FTPing my Xbox?

I've been looking forward to having this night off for almost a week now so I would really love it if I could get past this simple hump.

    Thanks.

What FTP program are u using? I recommend FlashFXP or CuteFTP

U also want to make sure that your firewall or anti-virus is not blocking the connection between your PC and XBox this can be changed by going to control pannel and change your fire wall settings or close your anti-virus...

Yes, I've been using FlashFXP. It's an awesome program and I probably will be purchasing it after the initial trial date runs out.

I do have my firewall disable and I don't have any type of virus protection.

I do know that I finally was able to FTP from my computer and Xbox when I had my Xbox network address set at STATIC. This was about a week ago before I installed the high speed internet.

When I tried to install the USB cable (which didn't work) earlier tonight by one of the suggestions on this board, I think it was trying to make my computer network settings default to DHCP.

It would be so wonderful if I could get this resolved tonight. I've got the next 6 hours available for free time to get this working again.

    Thanks.

Okay. I managed to get it back working again.

It turns out that all I need to do was change the properties of Network Connection every time I switched from either the internet or my Xbox.

I'm not sure how I did it, but at least I'm happy now.)
