The DVB forum is rife with off-topic nonsense. Here's my take on it. Off-topic comments are ok as long as those posts actually give help/info too, but what we have instead are endless pages of "hi mate how are you" etc etc etc.. /rant over, need to get off the pc as lurking on such DVB threads takes too much time that could be better spent elsewhere. /will only tolerate the crap in those threads for a little longer..

with out gettin on your bad side creaky why is every one so strict here i mean when we look at threads we do best to give the help and point folk in right direction and while some people are in the same thread together and its all quite and the topic strays off slightly with the odd bit of banter and there is no harm done .. is there?? and if you are gonna tolerate the crap for so much longer do you mean your gonna hand out bans for saying hello to fellow members on the site to whom we might know ? all of that rant of mine is to be takin lightly not trying to ruffle an feathers or rattle cages lol
It's like i said, there's being friendly/having fun along with helping in posts, and then there's just wasting pages of threads with idle banter. The only place it seems to go too far is in DVB. Bans aren't what i'm hinting at, but if threads keep being abused they'll get closed. I certainly don't like the spare time i put aside for forums being taken up with pages of "alright, mate". That's all i'm saying. Today I spent literally about 90mins cleaning up after about 2dozen spammers that had escaped capture and the last thing i wanted to do after that was go thru other emails that were, well, pointless.
well i agree with the junk stuff beeen sorted out all for that but just cant expect people to be robots constantly answering questions and repeating themselfs and not to say hello or whats up etc etc we all have spare time and most of us spend it in here tyring to help folk and never ah sure i give up now dunno what i really want to say with out getting slapped round the face with a ban or something its like this site is going down hill and there is too much nit picking at the like of it im done now no more ranting
The point creaky is trying to get across mogg is that there other places for the chat, such as IRC and MSN etc. Did you know that AD has an IRC channel?
i knw that loco but what i mean why is it frowned on so much for e.g if i see you in a thread and i say hello hows the family and what you get up to etc thus been after and in between helping folk???
Now this is where this always goes, people who feel they're entitled to post unnecessary stuff start moaning, then i feel that i'm wasting my time as the time i spend here is (mostly) to keep the place clean. No-one is forced to post, and by the same token neither am i. It's just that i don't feel entitled to post crap just because i spend quite a bit of time here. Asking people to not abuse the place is not nit-picking, it's all about balance. And on that note it's midnight here so i'm off to do some other stuff for a bit. i don't see how i can be any clearer. I'd already said the problem is having pages of utter pap being posted, not the odd comment. I know it's late but i thought i'd posted 'coherently'.
