OK, my dad wiped the pc, and I set up my network again and it worked fine. Then he wiped it again cus of bravesentry. But after setting up the network again, on my laptop (client) it says "limited or no connectivity". Why is it doing this? I didn't do anything different than last time I set up the network! And no, its nothing to do with my firewall, or my network card or any hardware conflicts... I CHECKED! Also, the laptop is connected to the host pc via crossover cable.

Sometimes when this happens and it happens to me quite often, the way i fix it is actually disconnecting the power cable from the router and then waiting for about 2minutes until the cache gets deleted and then putting the cable back in and then going and try repairing the connection again and it should work again.

i have had this very same problem on my gfs laptop.
before wiping the laptop my gf had installed XP home with sp2. and she was ALWAYS getting this problem. i first thought it was the modem she was using but that wasnt it because it done the same thing when connected to my pc.

so what i done to correct it was i got XP pro sp2 installed on it. the problem seemed to have gone. untill i taken out the net cable and put it back in. after about 2 mins it eventually connects.

before the wipe and installation of xp pro. i just turned the laptop of and striped it of power and waited for about 15 mins. usually worked 70% of the time

    @-josh99-

We are trying to help someone and here you come with your lame comment... "try to search" (how stupid anyways)

If you don't have anything to contribute then don't post!

Why don't you go draw a picture of intelligence.

I don't know if this is what's wrong. When you connect two computers together with a cross over cable it does not create an IP adress for your computers, so you have to go to "network connections" window and double click on "local area connections" then double click (TCP/IP) and click the option "use the following IP adress." You are going to have to plug in an ip adress for both computers. Make sure to click tab after your done typing the address and it will automatically configure your subnet. Then click ok and like i said you'll need an ip adress for both computers. Also in the future if you connect your laptop into a router for example you will have to go back to (TCP/IP) and click the option to "obtain an IP Adress automatically" (this is because routers or most of your modems in there default settings give you an IP Adress themselves). Hope this helps bud, if you have ANY questions about what i said, let me know and i'll reply asap!
