Hello everyone. I have a question about these types of TVs. I see that there are expensive 1080p TVs and 720p ones. I see that there are also ones without tuners. I hear that tv will be digital in a few years so I am not dying to get 720p image right now. The question I have is when a TV is 720p, does this mean that the tuner built in can do a max of 720p or does this mean that the TV itself can take a max of 720p? Can I buy a LCD screen without a HD tuner (to save some money) and a few years down the road buy a 1080p tuner to receive this image?
The output res of the tv will be its native resolution no matter what you feed it. If you're gonna buy an LCD screen just to watch SD by any means go for it. But my advice is go ahead and buy an HDTV with the tuner and enjoy hi def broadcasts over the air. 720p sets are getting cheap now anyway. My 2 pixels. cheezzzz
