ok heres the deal i have some videos in vcd/ mpeg format and the new nero converts them so they can be burned on a dvd disc and work in any dvd player for example my ps2 now nero is telling me this will take 12 hours is that right and if anyone can tell me a faster way i would greatly appreciate it
how many videos are you trying to convert at once? (is that the encode time for just one movie or is that the time for all of them?) its not impossible for a video to take that long to encode. example: my 2.5 gig pentium 4 converts a 2 hour movie from xvid to dvd mpeg in about 5 hours, if i do second pass encoding (vbr) it takes double that amount, so yeh it can defiantly take 12 hours, especialy if your rocking a slow chip. the higher quality your encoding to the longer it will take. also the more diferent the original codec is from what your trying to convert it to the longer it will take (size adjustments, audio adjustments, color adjustments). there are little things you can do to make it encode faster, basicaly not ramping up the quality so high. if your converting a vcd to dvd you dont need super high resolution and stuff, it wont make a diference.
