I have an old Emerson tv that my daughter watches here kid vids on and the control is history. The problem is that when you turn off the tv you can't get the A/V to work because it's only on the control. Is there a way to resolve this with a universal remote and which one because I used a Memorex and it did not work. Or is there something I can add to it so it will play the dvds?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You should be able to find a universal remote that will do the job. You'll probably want to buy one at an electronics store and maybe ask someone there which one is good to buy for you specific brand of tv. The really cheap ones suck beyond basic functionality. Another option I can think of is to buy an RF modulator. That way you would only have to get the tv to channel 3 for the dvd player to show up.
