1394 cable not working

    i have a windows pc home edition SP2 and i have a device that has a 1394 cable for it but when i connect the two ends of the cables the computer cannot find the device. is there something wrong ???

    is the firewire if built into the motherboard, enabled in the bios & is seen in the device manager??

    i dont know what happened but when i plugged in my mp3 player in the back usb ports and pressed play to begin tranfering songs the computer found the harware. strange but i dont know if its in the motherboard but i have one in the front and i have one in the back and im plugged in the front one

    firewire & usb use different type of connectors so can't put 1 into wrong connector. so are you using firewire or usb than??

    no i am usgin a firewire but when i pluged it in it reconize my device
