I have a 4.56 gig avi file that needs to be converted into MPEG format... but the windows limit on AVI files (2 gigs I think) is causing many of my programs to not recognize the file... can anyone tell me a program that supports avi files that are over 2 gigs? and what is the best compression to format my video in? it's about 15 minutes, 640x448 resolution. thanks!

Hm, TMPGEnc should be able to open files over 2GB, give it a try.

Well i've never tried playin one that big but I use The Playa to watch all of my AVI's. You can get that at www.divx.com and its wonderful. Everything looks better in it, far better then Win Media Payer.
