I would appreciate any advice here please. DivX pro 5.2.1
or pro 6.1.1 works okay with 2 pass, but for some reason Xvid codec does not release the AVI for 2 pass in my system.

I have tried using Imtoo Ripper 3, DVDx 2.3 etc and the same problem everytime. Is there a compatible converter out there to let me do the 2 pass?

does not release the AVI for 2 pass?

What exactly does that mean? You are trying to overwrite the first pass avi for the second, but can't?

Hi there. I mean everything is set correctly, but in Twopass
2nd pass(the Twopass 1st pass before this goes okay!)the file is not released to do this phase. Dvdx 2.3 says releasing file for 2nd pass but it just locks and freezes the computer.

It was same with other rippers I use. Divx on Multi nth pass produces no problems or locking. I'm using a 1000 Celeron and XP Pro. Any advice or am I'm doing something completely wrong? Thanks.

Have you tried AutoGK, FairUse Wizard, StaxRip or AVI.NET?

I'm going to use No1 DVD Ripper for(most stable Ripper they say on Net surveys!) the manual bit(any advice on correct procedure set up of 1st/2nd passes is greatly appreciated as I have never attempted that one- thanks.

I was in contact with DVDtox (no1 Ripper's creator and they have confirmed that next build(2.4.x) will finally include auto 2 pass and audio reduction bitrate feature as at present is fixed at 192kb/s as default.

The MPEG encoder on this one is superb by the way as you can squeeze bitrates for VCD and get a 2 hour film on a disc! The Divx/AVI is slowish but top quality
