hi, i recently been given a pc from my parents which was using ide hardrives, as my pc was usind sata i thought id just swap them over and it should work fine? the sata ports are onboard and are enabled in the bios menu, and they are getting power as they boot up but i get boot disk failure message, anybody know why?
secondly id like to know if there is any decent 12v power sources inside my pc case for led's i dont mind if i gotta solder etc.
any help is most appreciated. thanks Tez

led's don't use 12v as they use 5v or less. are you trying to boot from your sata hd on their old pc without reloading windows on your hd in their pc?

if both computers are not identical then that is what happens. can try a repair or reload either as re-install on top of self or fresh install.
