Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to get my microphone headset to work on my laptop. The headset has separate 3,5 mm audio jacks for mic and earphones, while the laptop has a unified audio jack. I have an adapter, but I can't get the mic to work (tested using Skype test calls). Mic is on, volume is up, everything is connected properly, but Control panel does not see the mic and no audio gets recorded. I had the same problem with my previous headset. Has anyone gotten that 2-into-1 audio adapter working properly? If yes, then it is possible that my adapter is faulty, and if not then I need to get a USB headset. Thanks for any ideas!
check under Sounds in Control Panel, the built in mic might be the default one, connect your headset and see if you can set that as 'default' Used to be the case when I connected laptop to TV using HDMI, had to tell settings what device to use. good luck
If the above doesn't work see if there are drivers supplied by the maker of the all in one audio port of the laptop as mentioned here, apparently windows may not see it,as a driver is required for windows to know what to do with any hardware you attach http://superuser.com/questions/7007...ts-that-have-a-single-audio-jack-with-4-rings
