i just purchased a DKU-5 data cable for my 3220 nokia mobile phone, but the PC data suite will not recognise the phone is connected.
the driver is installed and i can use the PC sync software perfectly, but not the data suite software.

What do i have to do so the software recognised the phone? Have i got the right cable to transer ringtones and games?

    thanks :)

it can sometimes be a problem if your cable isnt a nokia dku-5, but a 3rd party one

this may help you, but then again it may not. just make sure you install everything first WITHOUT the phone being connected. if that doesnt work then try the below information

    1. Install the DKU-5 drivers, without plug the cable
    2. Install the Nokia pC suite software, again without plug the cable.
    3. Now, the most important, you must install the drivers for TUSB3410. This driver creates a virtual COM port based on a USB connection.
You can find the driver at:
    http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folde...t/tusb3410.html
there's a lot of information on that page, but you can find the link at the bottom, with the label:
"TI Virtual COM Port Windows Drivers and Firmware"

    4. Once the TUSB3410 driver is installed, now you can plug the USB cable on you usb port, without be connected to the phone.
You 'll see a message informing that windows found a TYSB3410 device and couldn't find the driver. Select the option to locate the driver yourself, selecting the folder where the driver was installed (commonly, c:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\USB-Serial Adapter).
This message will appear twice, once for the new device and the other for the new port.

    5. Finaly, you can plag the phone to the cable.

    6. Open the Nokia connection manager, select Serial Cabe DKU-5, click on setup, and select the new "USB - Serial Port (COMx)"
Notice that you should do this step every time you unplug the cable. This is because the port is removed when the cable is unplugged.

Thanks for all your help jpp, but the link you gave me is not working :( it says:

    [bold]DOCUMENT NOT FOUND[/bold]

The document you requested could not be found. If you are lost, check the TI Home Page for starting points.

I did a search for the driver and registered on the site but i still cant find it. Could you find me another link to download it?

    thanks again

im having a bit of trouble understanding the instructions on how to install this driver.

Instructions: Where indicated by the comments below, replace TI's VID and PID (0451 and 3410) with your own VID and PID. The resulting text should match text in the INF files.

    USB\VID_0451&PID_5052
    USB\VID_0451&PID_505F
    USB\VID_0451&PID_5152
    USB\VID_0451&PID_515F

Vendor: In the string below, replace TI's VID (0451) and PID (3410) with your VID/PID
    USB\VID_0451&PID_3410

    umpport\com

Vendor: In the string below, replace TI's VID (0451) and PID (3410) with your VID/PID
    umpport\VID_0451_3410_com

    umpport\VID_0451_5052_port1
    umpport\VID_0451_5052_port2

    UMP34[/bold]

can someone explain this to me in english lol, thanks guys

rite ive looked into this a bit more and quite alot of people are having problems with the dku-5 cable

apparently some of this cds they have handed out are a bitt duff to say the least!

first of all uninstall the nokia software and cable

    download the driver from here

    http://www.nokiausa.com/support/software/dku5/driver/1,7471,,00.html

once you have done that, restart

install the nokia software from here

    http://www.nokiausa.com/support/pcsuite/1,7834,,00.html

try that, then come back and tell me if it works

my 7610 one does that because i have a kink in the cable sometimes, make sure its 100% straight. well it did do that until i ran over it with my computer chair and smashed the end up lol oops!

i cant believe nokia dont give out better cable for their phones they really are crap, mine is the official one and came with breaks in the wires, just useless

I just recently purchased a Nokia 3220 and I am looking to get a data cable, you guys keep talking about the DKU-5 data cable, but the nokia website shows a cable called CA-42: Connectivity Adapter Cable, it says the cost is $50! How much is the DKU-5 Cable? Did they come out with a better cable now?
