I am trying to make a movie for a presentation I have to do in school. I am using nero vision 4 with the latest updates(the "make movie" option)I have added 3 video clips with audio which totals 3mins 46 seconds. When I export it to an avi to my desktop the avi file is 3,76 gbs? Should a 3:46 video be that big? I want to add about 5 more mins to the movie but i need the exported avi to fit on an 512Mb flash drive and the file will be huge with the addition of 5 more mins of video. Is there any way to make this exported avi file smaller? There is no way a 9 min avi should be this big. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is Nero Vision exporting in uncompressed, Raw data?
What format are the clips that you are trying to join? Use Avidemux instead and join/edit those clips into an AVI.

Well the video has 3 jpeg files that play with an mp3 for 30 secs then it has an avi file. I am using text effects with the jpegs and transitions and special effects with the avi so iam not sure if the Avidemux program will be useful.

No, Avidemux will not help probably with transition effects and such...Just a simple joining.
In Nero Vision, did you choose any compression in the settings?

I did not mess with anything in the compression i just set it to avi and changed it it ntsc. Will changing the video compressor setting make the export smaller?

I don't use Nero Vision much, but I think if choosing "no compression" for video and audio, it will export in RAW data, hence your enormous file size. Choose Xvid/mpeg4 or ffdshow. The default settings of the codec should probably be just fine.

Well I feel like a tool. Changing The compression settings did the trick. Should of seen that. Thank you for your help. The file size of the new exported avi is now 42Mb. Thanks again!

:~)Glad it was an easy fix!
If you want better quality, you can play with the codecs, the settings, like do 2 passes, high quality encoding and such.
    Cheers!!
