what type of router do you have? and yes you can give your router a 64bit or 128bit encryption so no else can access your network.

oopps, maybe I should read your post......

Most routers you can config by typing an IP address into your search.

To configure a Lynksys router I would type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and the I would be able to access my router to set a password.

My memeory is a bit glitchy but type 192.168.0.1 into your address bar, when prompt type "Admin" as the user and leave the password blank, from there you should be able to access your router configurations and set a encryption key so no one else will access your wirless network.

Doesn't matter but I found it to load faster from the hard wired PC.

Since you have a Dlink router type 192.168.0.1 in your address bar.

    OK

Leave the WIreless Radio "Enabled" since this bordcast your wireless network.

Name your SSID to whatever you want, when you name this it identifies your router incase you live in some apartments and have multiple wireless networks running.

    Leave the SSID Broadcast "Enabled"

    For Security select WEP.

If you select 64bit encryption it will give pretty much a simple 8 character numbers and or letters.

If you select 128bit encryption you will be given 28 character numbers and or lettters.

Remember you will have to enter these numbers and or letters in the other computers you want share this wireless broadcast with.

I would suggest to change your user name and password so no one can access your router configurations.
