Hi everyone. I'm looking for a way to convert dolby digital 5.1 surround sound to DTS sound. Does anybody know how to do that? thnx, Zapp5
And this would be good in what way? you are talking about going through another lossy compression. Meaning you lose twice.
Agreed. There really is no point in doing this at all. Dolby Digital Surround is at 448kb/sec. It effectively is only about 1/12 of your original audio. (6 channels would usually be around 1536kb/sec per stereo stream). So, you convert it to a WAV file, which still has the frequencies that were taken away with the lossy compression missing, then encode to DTS, keeping around 1/4 of your original 1/12. Now - If you had the original WAV, then it may be worthwhile. But not from Dolby Digital to DTS. You will lose quality. Guaranteed. Besides, Dolby Digital is just fine when done correctly.
