Hey everyone, I recently bought an Asus K50IE notebook, not noticing the fact that it's sound card does not support 5.1ch surround sound speakers, such as mine which are the Logitech X-530's. My X-530's have 3 cords that need to be plugged in for all speakers to work; a green, a pink and a black. My notebook obviously only has one headphone jack and one microphone jack, so therefor only 2 of my speakers work. With me knowing absolutely nothing about sound cards and what have you, I was just wondering what options I have to go about getting 5.1ch surround sound on my notebook? Should I look into buying a USB sound card with 5.1ch support? I have already looked at some cheap ones that say they support 5.1ch: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.22475 But they too only have one headphone and one microphone jack, so I do not understand how that works? Is there any other way I can go about getting surround sound? Should I look at buying something completely different, or just get my sound card upgraded? What are my other options? All suggestions is much appreciated, thanks a bunch.
That's a 'virtual' surround card, i.e. it's stereo. Virtual surround is just a con to use fancy audio effects to make sound appear to come from places it doesn't. This is what you really need: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102020
