    Hi All,
I have just started working with .avi files and am having a problem with Quicktime playback. I have been using Xilisoft software to convert the files to Mpeg-4 which are playing beautifully on Quicktime, but the player stops after 5 minutes exactly.

I was afraid that the files were only that long so I downloaded a freeware program through which I was able to watch the whole 45 minute file, but it was much choppier.

Any idea why QT is limiting the playback to 5 mins?

    Thanks.

have you considered that the files should be converted to mpeg2 and then use windows media to play them or just burn them as dvd video to a dvd disc and watch it in your standalone dvd player.Converting them to an mpeg4 file might be making the player have issues
