i use incd software that allows to use cdrw discs as floppy disc using the UDF format. but when i use 650mb disc (only 650mb discs are supported by my writer) it says 550mb free space available. i wanted to know what happens to the remaining 100mb from the 650mb.where is this 100mb space used for.this happens with all the new and used cdrws

After formatting a cd-rw disk in the Mount Rainier format you will lose some space due to the conversion. A 700mb disk will result in 540mb and a 650mb disk will be shrinked down to 504mb.

The MR format is different to packet writing, it is much quicker and has defect management. There's not much you can do about the "lost" space i am afraid.
