I have an Intel Quad Core Q6600. Its not overclocked so its still at stock 2.4 ghz. however when i leave it idle the temp is already at 69-70 celsius. I am using the stock cooler. I have some thermal gel, will that make the CPU cooler? If i need an aftermarket cooler which one should i get?

either your cpu heatsink fan assembly is not seated properly or you have a faulty sensor. that reading, is that from hardware monitor in the bios or thru windows?
