Okay guys bear with me as I have just crawled out from under my rock and bought a computer so this is a very newbie question.

I’ve gone to every one I can think of and no one will give me a straight answer. Is it possible to format a 700mb avi to burn to a cd-r and play in a dvd player? I know this is stupid but I was told I had a dvd writer when I bought the computer but was apparently lied to! I just don’t have the money to buy one right now and I’d like to get these movies of my hard drive.

Thanks much for helping a computer illiterate.

    Hi Melissa,

what you want to do is create whats called a video CD (VCD) which MOST DVD Players can play. There are many many ways you can go about doing this, with freeware as well.

Have a look at the guides section here (http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/)

look under the VCD/SVCD category and you should find several topics on how to convert your movie file to a VCD disk.
