My Computer > properties > hardware > device manager, dvd/cd rom drives.
    Highlight the drive and uninstall.
    Reboot and let Windows reinstall.

You cannot drag files into CD unless it has been formatted using InCD or any other pocket writing software.
If you see the drive in My Computer, than you can use Nero's writing software to write to disk.

I can do it and I don't have any Incd.
    There's a discussion here.

I just copied a file to prove I wasn't imagining things.
BTW, Is 'Recording' turned on under the drive properties?

EDIT!!!I just tried a CD-RW and it worked, however I must note that I run into times when it won't and have had to uninstall both the controller and the drive to get it working again.

    Always room to learn.
I did not know about this in WinXP. Mind you I stay away from packet writing software, because they gave me problem before.
