My most recent job told me in nero that the job would
not fitr on a a standard dvd, did I want to have the
    job compressed so it would?

    Yes.

The job was too big fpor compression.

Nero said that the job couldbe put on a DVD9 no problem.

Oddly, I cannot find much info on DVD 9.

Only thread I saw was on DVD 5 and DVD9 and how to tell
    the difference between the two.

    I'm furhter behind than that: I don't know what a dvd 9
    is at all.

It must be a commercial product so I need to know
where or how to buy them.

Lastly, will the job play back in a regular dvd player?

    thanks.

DVD-9 are double layer dvd's. You'll need a double layer burner (which most newer ones are) to burn to these. Almost every new release is a double layer DVD-9. Older ones were DVD-5, single layer. Double layer blank DVD's run $2+ per disc on average when on sale and hold up to 7.95gb.

Also if this is a movie you are backing up, than I have yet to find one that couldn't be compressed to fit on a normal blank dvd.

Nope, not a dvd, a torrent. AVI. But I aslo have 98SE
which means I could have some over 4G problems.

I tried to load it in DVD Shrink but I might have not
    set it up right.

My burner is a Benq 1620 OEM not even a year old.

Do they make any rewriteable DVD+r DL? I haven't seen that
particular combination, but I haven't been looking
    either.
