I have dowloaded several files that are unbelievable compressed. Example: I have an DVD ISO file of 702MB compressed down to a single 800KB file that fits in a floppy disk. And also a another ISO DVD which is over 3.5 Gigabytes compressed down to a single 200MB file. How can those files be compressed so much?? Is there any special program that does that kind of compression?? I don't know if it's possible to do that with 7zip or even WinRAR. I have tried PowerISO also but it's not even close. Any valuable info?? thanks
thats what I thought at first , but I have the files to prove it. Theres also a website wich you can download ps2 tools, one of those tools is a DVD ID utility which is about 739KB RAR archive, when extracted the file is 540MB , I burned that to a blank DVD and it works on my ps2.
yeah ive got that aswell(the disc).its weird isnt it.if this is true why do ps2 realeses on the net over like 2gb when they should only be 200mb then?
Easiest way to explain it.... a Dummy file in a PS2 game is usually just a file made to make the TOC of the disc larger... These dummy files don't consist of much structure so they are easily compressed... If you have a prog like DVD LOADER which is 526mb once UNCOMPRESSED and you delete the DUMMY.BIN file or just make it a smaller blank file like you would do when rebuilding a PS2 game it makes the ISO 26MB.... Which will compress down to a really small file compared to t he orig... So basicly it's the DUMMY Files in those types of programs that make the ISO look huge.. But the program is actually rather small
He_Man your in violation of the Signature rules, big time, read the rules below.. your pix are to large in size 99266 and 205767 = 305033 and you have to much text *(fix ye Signature}* per the rules These rules exist to make viewing the forum as pleasant as possible to all users. Even though you might think signatures with large pictures look cool, some might find them extremely annoying. 1. Text-only signatures should have at most 5 lines of text. 2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall. 3. If you use an animated picture in the signature, it should not be too distractive. Eg. blinking images or images with quick movement are not allowed. 4. If you want to use both text and image in your signature the image should not be more than 500 pixels wide and 100 pixels tall, and you can use up to three lines of text. 5. All the abovementioned rules for forum posts apply also to the signatures. Violation of these rules does not lead to an immediate ban. However if requested user must edit his or her signature to fit these guidelines. Administrative actions Messages that break any of the rules above can be removed or edited by the moderators and administrators of these forums. hello [bold]tmfloria[/bold], I understand the part about the dummy files and the rebuilding process, what you mean by TOC? I've heard that before in other guides. The thing I still have doubts is the compression methods that are used on certain files which doesn't have any dummy files at all.
Table of Contents... well some files also have False LBA which is another way of making something that is rather small is size look big... I've rebuilt some games that were 3 or 4gb down to 700mb because there was so much false LBA
