I'm a fist time poster here, so please go easy. I have purchased the software to use DivX and was wondering the steps I need to take to make a copy of a movie. I know that I only rtecord a few of the files but I don't know which ones. And also, when I burn the copy of the DVD, it takes all night to finish. This may be normal, but thought I would ask anyway. If anyone knows a place with a tutorial, I will gladly use that instead. TIA!!!

which software are you talking about? And what cpu do you have on your computer? Divx requires a very powerful cpu to encode.

About the only thing that I'm familiar with is it is the software from the DivX site and my computer is a Dell laptop with a 140 G for the hard drive. I'll check and see if I can get more info. I know what I gave you is shakey. Sorry.

the best thing to do is read, read ,read.

If you are making a backup of a DVD that you own. You're better off backing it up to the hard drive first, then recoding the movie only to divx. Check out the guides, and let me know if you have anymore questions.
