I was wondering on the different speeds of burn how long will it take to burn a full 4.7 disc. Like 1x will take , 2x will take , 4x will take , and 8x will take. i am asking this because i just recently bought a 4x dual rewriter. i used to have a 1x burner that i got with my computer and it would take it a total of 64 min to burn a full 4.7gig disc. now at 4x it takes me 20 min to burn a disc. i am just trying to check and make sure that everything is ok with my burner.
Hiya leo8013, a quick-and-dirty calculation for you: 1 x is approx 1 Hour 2 x is approx 1/2 Hour 4 x is approx 1/4 Hour Do you see the sequence? Different burner/system configurations will give you SLIGHTLY different initialise and close times, but they will invariably be within 5 minutes of each other. basically the equation (roughly) is: (60 / burn speed) ± 5 = the answer in minutes Have Fun...
WOW!! You got an 8X!! only 9 minutes to burn a coaster!!!! Only JOKING ;-) I shall consider getting an 8 x burner when the 16 x burners are available (let others be the guinea-pigs and beta-testers). I'll bet media sourcing is a problem at the moment tho'. Have Fun...
Can someone maybe help me out? I have an 8X plextor drive, I am using DVD shrink and Nero 6. It is taking over an hour to burn a DVD. Any ideas? My system is a 2.8GHZ Intel, MSI motherboard, SATA MAxtor HD, 512MB ram, I also have been getting failed Burns using Nero. Thanks in advance.
well i figured out my problem. The package that I bought said that it was 4x media but when i checked the media through a program that I downloaded it said that it was 2.4x max. I used the blank disc that came with the new burner that I got and it took 16min to burn a full 4.7gig disc
drchips, the coolest part about the Plextor is that you can burn at 8X with good quality 4X DVD+R. My niece bought me a 10 pack of TDK 4X DVD+R for Xmas and they burn in about 9 min. I've only done two discs so far - the included disc (Taiyo Yuden) and one of the TDKs. They both play great all the way to the end so I guess I'll see if the good results continue. The only reason I could afford the new Plextor was because I already had someone lined up to buy my Sony DRU-500A!
