Hi People, I've never 'done' games before. So i downloaded an ISO file as I read you just burn the image onto disc and its straight forward. Problem is though, When I used Winrar to open it, it has loads of files rather than just an image file!! what am I doing wrong?? Or is it a fake ISO? Thanks Vince
UnRar every WinRar file in the same folder. After doing so click view>arrange icons by name. Now locate the first WinRar file (should be something like this: r.00). Right click that file and click extract here. Shoey
Hi I have used Winrar on the file. But I dont see the files you mentioned. Below is the contents : AOL (folder) Crack (folder) Demos (folder) Eraser (folder) Ereg (folder) Launcher (folder) Music (folder) Readme (folder) Setup (folder) 00000001.TMP (Temporary file) 00000002.TMP (Temporary file) autorun.inf (Setup Information) DrvMgt.dll (Application Extention) Maxis.ini (Configuartion Settings) SECDRV.SYS (System File) simscd.ico (Icon) Start.exe (Application)
You can use burnatonce and add each individual files and burn to a cd-r. I noticed the game is "Sims" and there is a crack folder (probably a no cd patch). After you burn and install the game, locate the crack folder and copy& paste the crack to the directory to where you installed the game. Example: C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims. To launch the game most likely you'll have to do this by using the "no cd crack" in that folder and that's why I [bold] hate [/bold] cracked backups. burnatonce: http://www.burnatonce.com/downloads/ Best freeware burning program on the net I assure you. Thanks Mate! I see you prefer other methods rather than the no cd crack way. As I'm new, I dont know the options. Ideally I would like a copy that works exactly like the original, but is that possible? Or whats your prefered method? PS I have Nero, so do I still require Burnatonce?
You can use Nero to accomplish this task m8. A backup of the "original" image(s) . Note that the backups are not "true backups", but "modified". The "modified" backups need no crack(s). What is the name brand and model of your burner? If you own a "2 sheep burner" then your all set but if you own a "1 sheep" burner then you would need the aid of emulation to play backups of the "original" image of a pc protected cd (game). Most recommended brand name "2 sheep burners". LiteOn 40/48/52 Asus 40/48/52 Memorex MAXX 40/48/52 Polaroid BurnMAX 40/48/52 LG (Lucky Goldstar) 16/32/40/48/52x BTC 40/48/52 I like the Memorex MAXX52 burner...[bold]CHEAP in price! [/bold] Shoey
i reckon its a Philips CDD 4801 : IDE-CD R/RW 8x4x32 . Dunno if this is any good though. Its pretty old..
Well since your copy has a nocd file, you wont have to worry about having to make perfect backups (which i dont think your burner can do because I would imagine it is a one-sheeper ;-P )
