Does anyone know why I can only get stereo output from the tsolink fiber optic output on the Abit VT7 motherboard on board sound? I am connecting it to a Sony Dolby digital DTS receiver via tsolink and all my DVD movies are in stereo?? I had an ASUS espresso case at one time (took it back due to excessive overheating) and the tsolink on that motherboard would output bit streams in Dolby digital. Do I need some special software or is there a setting somewhere that I can’t find to correct this?
I think I have found my own answer. On this site: http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/1/2098.html I have found that it may be the software I am using. I am going to try PowerDVD and see if the fiber out on the motherboard will pass the AC3 bit stream to my receiver. If this works then Abit needs to update their software to allow this.
I FIXED IT! It turns out that the linked info is correct! I tried PowerDVD and it worked! I then dug into the Ati DVD software under audio settings and set it to cyber digital pass-through (Ati) or something close to that and it worked as well! In the PowerDVD program you have to set the audio output to the Sony Fillips Digital Interface not to down mix as it is set in default. I know I did not get any replies to this thread but hopefully someone will find this information useful in the future and save a little time and aggravation. Sorry if I offended anyone at afterdawn for posting another BBS thread but the information was useful in determining the solution to this problem.
