Isn't PC Mechanic a program??? DVD Shrink is for compressing a movie. If it is a program how big is the file?

Yes, it is a program and I think it may be 606 mb.
I guess that proves just how much of a Newbie I am.

    Thanks for your reply,

This is small enough to fit on a cd, no need to use a dvd.

    Yes, I have Nero 5.5.
However sorry to say don't know how to copy the disc.
Only have the one drive, would guess I need to copy to my hard drive first and then burn to disc. Would that be the procedure?

you could do that. Normally it will create a temp folder, then when its time to burn eject the original and ask you to put in a blank.

Does your Nero 5.5 have Nero Express? If so open Express and choose copy entire disc.

Thank you so very much for all the help. That worked out just fine and I now have my copy.

Have a couple of movies I would like to try next.
What type of DVD discs should I purchase to burn them?
Is there anything else I would need?

    Thanks again.

I like using Verbatim branded 2.4x, and TDK 4x. But check your players compatibility at http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

Also keep in mind burning faster isn't always better. :) Happy burning.

    Thanks FLIP218. ordered 25-Ritek G04 grade A discs.
I had a old Striptease movie on hand and a DVD-R that came with my Pioneer DVR-AO6U. Thought I would try to burn a copy, first thing Shrink could not copy as it stated the disc was copywrited. Is there a way around that? Then I tried to copy with Nero 5.5. That worked ok, but could not play as was told I did not have a DVD Decoder, What is that?

    creager,

I thought you were doing PC Mechanic(a program)? How did that go? PC Mechanic doesn't need to go on a dvd, it will fit on a cd.

Yes, there is a way around it. 1) you can first run DVD Decrypter, then through Shrink, then burn with either Nero(video_ts files) or Decrypter(ISO files).

Did you try this on a PC? If so, you'll need to get a program PowerDVD or WinDVD. Try playing it on a stand alone dvd player.

FLIP 218 ---- Yes, I was doing the PC Mechanic program, but finished that. I wrote to you on 13 June 2004 16:45 that it worked fine and now had my copy.
Have not gotten into the latest yet.
    Thank you for the reply,

Yes, I did try it on my PC, that is where I was told I needed a DVD Decoder, will get that now. As to a stand alone dvd player I do not own one. Not much money to throw around so do you have any suggestions for cheap?
