Hey everyone. I need some help.
I have to edit swear words out of DivX movies. Don't ask why. :)

The problem is, I have already backed up my movies from my DVD's and converted to DivX. I have no way to edit the audio. I have tried using Vegas, but it doesn't like DivX compressed video at all.

What I would really like to do is edit the AC3 audio track in the DivX file and either silence the audio or bleep the audio. I need to be able to do this for fractions of a second, as I will only need to bleep out individual words.

Can you guys give me any advice on what tools I could use to edit the AC3 audio? I loved the layout of Vegas, how it seperated out the video and audio tracks. So if I can find a tool to edit as well as Vegas but works with DivX, that would be awesome. I would prefer to NOT have to convert the AC3 to wav or mp3 to edit it and then have to re-merge it with the DivX video (if that is even possible).

    1) Demux the AC3 stream from the AVI (VirtualDub , making 'Save WAV' but calling it 'audio.ac3' or VirtualDubMod Stream__Stream List___Demux).
    2) Convert the AC3 stream to uncompressed WAV using an editor (I use HeadAC3he).
    3) do your modifiation to the WAV file using any sound editor.
    4) Transform back modified.WAV --> final.AC3 (FFMPEG GUI is an excellent application).
    5) Insert that AC3 stream in your DivX. You can simply replace the one which is in the AVI again with VirtualDubMod (Stream__Stream List___Disable the old one, Add the new one. Set video__direct stream copy and Save (F7) to movie_new.avi.

I'm sorry, bt I don't know AC3 editor, I know many free WAV aditor, instead. Do not protest, AC3 <-> WAV and AC3 + AVI re-merging is a few minutes loss....
