Hello, My brother recently came back from a 6-month trip to Africa and after returning he accidentally formatted the Memory Card on his camera, containing all his photos. He isn't very technologically minded... Anyways he's really upset and desperately wants to know if there's a way to recover the data. I know in crime shows how they can find traces of data on hard drives after they have been formatted or severely damaged, and wondered if there was any possibility of recovering ANY of the data he has lost as it would mean an enormous amount to him. I've included the details of his camera and memory card below. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice. -CR Digital Video Camera: Panasonic NV-GS180 Card: SanDisk 256 meg
oooh nooo!! il be honest with you mate, and you aint gunna like it if hes formatted it, then hes got no chance of recovering those photo's the only glimmer of hope is that he might of stored some on the cameras on board memory but sadly you only get around 20-40mb with a standard digi cam theres probably a way of recovering them for a smart hacker, but for an average joe you might as well break it to him gently
Thanks, that's kind of what I figured... Umm, so I can sugar coat the news a little bit, any idea of how I would go about learning how to get some of the photos out of the on-board memory as you suggested? Although I'm not a 'hacker', I'm pretty confident I could learn how to hack into a video camera if I had some initial direction as to how to get started. Cheers, -CR
to get the photos stored on the camera (if there is any)just take out the memory card and turn the camera back on, just search the camera as you would do with a memory card innit with a little luck he might have some there, but there wont be many, like i said....usually the on board memory you get is frankly...... shite! good luck
