Hi, I just recently had an adware, virus and a spyware I believe removed from my PC. There were a few problems, including popping up, windows popping up, and telling me to buy some spy something. Well, I got rid of that, and my internet explorer is back to normal (it wasnt going to homepage and wasn't working properly). The computer is running great, but I am still getting one more error message that wasn't coming a day or two ago. "Your Current Security Settings Prohibit Running ActiveX Controls On this Page. As A Result The Page May Not Display Correctly". This pops up out of nowhere, when I am not even opening anything, and the desktop is on. It's kind of weird. I understand this could possibly because of a spyware, adware or a virus, but I have checked for all three using all the softwares I have, and have even used TuneUp to fix my registry. Any more suggestions? Regards, DiRect

In my taskbar I believe it's called (where MSN shows and everything), there are two warnings that keep coming up about spyware detected and how it will automatically install spyware software to delete them. One is just a triangle (yellow) with an exclamation mark, and the other is showing a white x inside a red circle and than changes to a picture of the earth with a windows thing beside it, it changes every second. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of these as I have already done it once, but I don't think the problem was fully removed. Regards, DiRect
Hi again. Your computer is not clean. You don't have a firewall on your computer. Download and install one firewall. These are good (free) firewalls: ZoneAlarm --> http://www.zonelabs.com Kerio--> http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm Outpost-> http://www.agnitum.com Cleaning instructions: Download and install Ewido, UPDATE it, but do NOT run a scan yet. -> http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ Donwload smitrem to your desktop > http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click counter/click.php?id=1 Doubleclick it and press Start, smitrem folder appears to the desktop. Hi, Thanks a lot for your help. I just have a few things to report from the instructions you gave me: "O2 - BHO: HomepageBHO - {4da4616d-7e6e-4fd9-a2d5-b6c535733e22} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp2E61.tmp" was not in the HiJackThis entries. Hi again DiRect. You are almost clean =) You haven't installed a firewall, DO it now. That wingmo32.dll file must be removed. Instructions: Fix these two entries with HijackThis: (You have propably removed that CWPro from your computer once) O20 - Winlogon Notify: wingmo32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wingmo32.dll O23 - Service: CWService - Unknown owner - C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Shabana\CWPro\CWService.exe (file missing) Then on the downright corner in HijackThis press config ->Misc Tools ->Delete NT service ->Copy this: CWService and paste it to the field ->Press OK Delete this folder if found: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Shabana\-->CWPro Download Killbox to your desktop -> http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip Unzip it to your desktop. Run killbox.exe Then choose Delete on Reboot Then click All Files option. Copy this text with your mouse: --> C:\WINDOWS\system32\wingmo32.dll Go back to the Killbox, go to File menu and choose Paste from Clipboard Click the red-white Delete File button. Press Yes to "Delete on Reboot" question. Press OK to any PendingFileRenameOperations requests (and tell me if you get these requests) Restart your computer if Killbox does not do it. Post a new HijackThis log so we can see if you are now clean.
Hi, I really appreciate your help, thank you !. Well, wingmo32.dll was deleted by another software after it was detected so it wasn't necessary for me to follow the other instructions to delete it, but I did remove the two entries from HiJackThis about wingmo32.dll (beside which it said (file missing), so I think it's gone). Well, here is my new log from hijackthis: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 11:04:42 AM, on 3/18/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\lib\NMBgMonitor.exe C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exe C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoguard.exe C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\Personal Firewall 4\kpf4ss.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\Personal Firewall 4\kpf4gui.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\devldr32.exe C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\Personal Firewall 4\kpf4gui.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.yahoo.com/ R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 217.68.77.36:3128 O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [BgMonitor_{79662E04-7C6C-4d9f-84C7-88D8A56B10AA}] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\lib\NMBgMonitor.exe" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msnmsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe" /background O8 - Extra context menu item: Download using FlashGet - C:\Program Files\FlashGet\jc_link.htm O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_05\bin\npjpi150_05.dll O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_05\bin\npjpi150_05.dll O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe O16 - DPF: {00B71CFB-6864-4346-A978-C0A14556272C} (Checkers Class) - http://messenger.zone.msn.com/binary/msgrchkr.cab31267.cab O16 - DPF: {0E5F0222-96B9-11D3-8997-00104BD12D94} (PCPitstop Utility) - http://support.gateway.com/support/profiler/PCPitStop.CAB O16 - DPF: {17492023-C23A-453E-A040-C7C580BBF700} (Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool) - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=39204 O16 - DPF: {4F1E5B1A-2A80-42CA-8532-2D05CB959537} (MSN Photo Upload Tool) - http://by1fd.bay1.hotmail.msn.com/resources/MsnPUpld.cab O16 - DPF: {6414512B-B978-451D-A0D8-FCFDF33E833C} (WUWebControl Class) - http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.c...ls/en/x86/client/wuweb_site.cab?1105238786446 O16 - DPF: {77E32299-629F-43C6-AB77-6A1E6D7663F6} - http://www.nick.com/common/groove/gx/GrooveAX27.cab O16 - DPF: {8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93} (Java Plug-in 1.5.0_05) - O16 - DPF: {9A57B18E-2F5D-11D5-8997-00104BD12D94} (compid Class) - http://support.gateway.com/support/serialharvest/gwCID.CAB O16 - DPF: {9A9307A0-7DA4-4DAF-B042-5009F29E09E1} (ActiveScan Installer Class) - http://acs.pandasoftware.com/activescan/as5free/asinst.cab O16 - DPF: {B38870E4-7ECB-40DA-8C6A-595F0A5519FF} (MsnMessengerSetupDownloadControl Class) - http://messenger.msn.com/download/MsnMessengerSetupDownloader.cab O16 - DPF: {B49C4597-8721-4789-9250-315DFBD9F525} (IWinAmpActiveX Class) - http://cdn.digitalcity.com/radio/ampx/ampx2.6.1.11_en_dl.cab O16 - DPF: {BCBC9371-595D-11D4-A96D-00105A1CEF6C} (View22RTE Class) - http://hgtv1.view22.com/view22/app/view22rte.cab O18 - Protocol: livecall - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing) O18 - Protocol: msnim - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing) O18 - Protocol: talkto - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing) O20 - Winlogon Notify: wingmo32 - wingmo32.dll (file missing) O23 - Service: AVG7 Alert Manager Server (Avg7Alrt) - GRISOFT, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe O23 - Service: AVG7 Update Service (Avg7UpdSvc) - GRISOFT, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe O23 - Service: ewido security suite control - ewido networks - C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exe O23 - Service: ewido security suite guard - ewido networks - C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoguard.exe O23 - Service: Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4 (KPF4) - Sunbelt Software - C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\Personal Firewall 4\kpf4ss.exe O23 - Service: TuneUp WinStyler Theme Service (TUWinStylerThemeSvc) - TuneUp Software GmbH - C:\Program Files\TuneUp Utilities 2006\WinStylerThemeSvc.exe Hope I am clean now !
