    Hello!

I am having huge trouble with what i think is very simple or impossible!

I bought a dvd/divx player and I want to play my divx movies on it with subs.

I was following the guide from this forum, downloaded all the tools and i added subs to divx vith virtualdub i think.

after that i could see the subs while playing the movie in wmp, after burning and playing on the dvd they were not showing.

I then used TMPGEnc to encode it to a VCD/SVCD (3 hours), but after this they were lost while playing the movie in wmp, even though the whole file grew from 699mb to 800 mb.

What am I doing wrong or is this impossible to do ?

I will be very thankfull if you can help me in any way, cuz' i'm lost now..thanks.

You can use the WinAVI to do a conversion, convert the divx file to dvd/vcd/svcd,it can give you the subtitle.

For divx files you should be using xsubs. If your player is DivX certified then they will work. Most players support avi files with external subs though (for best compatibility stick with ANSI srt's).

The only way to add subs with VirtualDub is to hard encode. This will give you an avi file (not divx) which will always play with subs, since they are actually part of the video.
