    Hi guys, how are you?, i just have some questions, i hope you can help me:

    I am going to buy a new computer but i can't decide wich one is better, ADM Athlon or Pentium 4.

    Which one is Better? Is Pentium 4 faster than ADM Athlon even if they have the same speed number(2.8 GB)?

    Thank you, i hope you can help me!!!!! Bye!!!!!!

    Hiya joseph54,

    the fact that you asked the question gives me the idea that you are relatively inexperienced with PC's in general.

    So, a simple run down for you;

    The performance differences between Intel and AMD cpu's of the same RATED speed is negligible for everyday use.

    The AMD's show SOME advantages under certain conditions,
    and the INTEL's show SOME advantages under different conditions.

    The main differences are COST and how each handles HIGH temperatures (fault conditions).

    ALL the benefits (especially cost benefits) can be completely lost by choosing poor quality components OTHER than the CPU.

    A computer system is a highly integrated conglomeration of specialist parts (that is why it is referred to as a SYSTEM) that are highly inter-dependant:
    get just ONE of those parts wrong and the WHOLE machine will be slow (weakest link in the chain kind of thing).

    Whichever CPU you choose, make sure it is part of a well balanced system.

    So, there is really no "Best" as such, unless you have very SPECIFIC requirements.

    In general, speed for speed, AMD based systems TEND to be cheaper.

    Hope that helps...
