    Hi

I am totally new - I want a system that will create video DVDs from any reasonably format (avi, mpg whatever is best) that has the best chance of playing in unknown-brand home DVD tv systems in the UK - I am confused about -RW and +RW and which is better?

Menu creation would be good, but not essential - the video is the important bit?

I've not bought any hardware or software yet and I'd really welcome any advice !

    Rgds

About the DVD-RW and DVD+RW, the different is just like the VHS and the BETA in VCR. DVD+RW costs more than DVD-RW and most old dvd players can play DVD-R type not DVD+R. New DVD players might play these type. Check with your DVD Player for compatibility first before you get your hand on DVD-R or DVD+R
Again, DVD+R cost more so do the DVD+R burners.
You need a Pentium 4 with a CPU of 1.7G and a 40G hard drive, but you can always have a higher if you can afford it.
Hope I get all your answer
