I just purchased an XBOne and have a 4GB external drive attached. I want to rip all of my Blu-Ray discs and have them backed up on this drive. I want an 'exact' copy of each disc. If possible, when I select the file from my XBOne, I would like the selection screen, and have all the same choices to come up just as it would when I enter a disc into the player. Is this possible? If so, what is the best program to use to accomplish this?
Guessing Xbox one doesn't support ISO image files. How about ripping BDs with full file structure? Just google "full disc copy" it may helps.
I think is a way to compress a BR rip .iso into 2GB mkv, with a "little lost" of quality. My experiment: To burn then into a DVD-5 as Data, to playback on a DVD player, ...or burn a DVD-5 with a BR Burner to playback on a BR Player. NOTE: DVD-R/+R/RW can hold 35mins. at 18Mbps upto around 210 mins. at 3Mbps of HD content, as AVCHD (m2ts = "Baby" BR) format. AVCHD content can be playback by 321 MPC-HC on a computer, XBox, PS3 & few compatibles DVD players. A good start, is at the MakeMKV forum. http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053 HandBrake : http://www.afterdawn.com/software/search/results.cfm?q=handbrake
Experiment Update: How to rip a Blu-ray disc & remux it to MKV: http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides/blu-ray-rip/256-remux-blu-ray-to-mkv 1.- Use MakeMKV [Run it in Back-up Mode] ...( or use your ripper "combo" of choose ) to rip the BR to a .mkv 1:1 = Same-Size to avoid errors. (35-45mins) NOTE: A - Update MakeMKV every 1rs. of the month. (Link: Previously post) B - MakeMKV conflict with AnyDVD, so turn off AnyDVD. C - .mkv play on VLC, 321 MPC-HC & few other players. 2.- Shrink the video file with Handbrake to your wish: - Compress at 1080p to 6GB (8.5 hrs) to playback on screens bigger that 55" - Compress at 720p to 2GB (4.3 hrs) to playback on screens smaller that 45" - Stereo is a Plus. - 3.1 , 5.1 or 7.1 (True-HD, DTS-HD) increase the file size up to a +2GB just for the Audio file only. NOTE: A.- If Coverted to a .mp4 do it after is compressed, & Check: Large File Size just to be safe. B.- Comvert with MkvtoMp4 (mkv2mp4), RipBot264, HandBreak, MeGUI, etc. C.- Mp4 still most versatile format today (Playback, streaming, uploads, etc.) but .mkv will remplace it eventually, 'cos can containt more & better info in smaller package. 3.- Burn, baby burn: Toast, ImgBurn, etc. Handbrake Settings: Video Tab Video Codec H .264 FPS 23.976 Constant Framerate Constant Quality 20 Audio Tab I kept only the English DTS track and created 2 audio tracks AAC (faac) Dolby Pro Logic II Auto 160kbps 0 0 AAC (faac) 6 Channel Discrete Auto 320kbps 0 0 Advanced Tab Reference Frames 4 Maximum B-Frames 3 CABAC Checked 8x8 Transform Unchecked Weighted P-Frames Checked Pyramidal B-Frames Default (Normal) No DCT-Decimate No Adaptive B-Frames Optimal Adaptive Direct Mode Default (Spatial) Motion Est Method Uneven Mulit-Hexagon Subpixel ME & MD 10:QPRD in all frames Motion Est Range Default (16) Partition Type: Default Trellis Always Don't touch Adaptive Quantization Strength, Psychovisual Rate Distortion, Psychovisual Trellis or the Deblocking (Save time) Subpixel ME & Mode Decision 7 Trellis Default (Speed up your System) at 720p re-encode take 2 hrs. P.S. If the rip is a DVD instead of BR: - Increase the Rf to 16 & apply faster settings on HB. I'm not a pro and keep learning by Trial & Error. I'm looking for better handbrake settings. Hope this help others.
