I guess you are talking about trillian. I got it a few months ago and have been very pleased to it. The program can be downloaded from this site: www.ceruleanstudios.com

my msn has also worked well but i still deleted it and replaced with trillian. Even the reason that I don't have to use IE ever again is a good enough reason to change to trillian :D It is also very handy because I can now use all the most used internet based "chats" through one program :)

well, trillian allows you to use your default browser to check your new e-mails unlike MSN that always uses IE to open your e-mail account ;) I also have automatic windows update so I don't have to use IE at all. You can have your MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ and irc under the same program which is very handy so tou don't have to have 5 different programs open in the same time. Though I only use MSN and irc. If you are ready to pay you can have Trillian pro which includes the possibility to install plugins etc.

EDIT: also adverts in MSN window are history with trillian. I have to admit I was rather tired of the "Meegos" and other adverts in the MSN window :D now they are gone
