Does anybody want to give this a look-see and tell me what settings I might have inadvertently goofed up? I'm not a "noob" by any means when it comes to computers, but I'm at the end of my rope. I've burned many many discs and it seems within the past 2 weeks or so, it's just coaster after coaster. Any ideas? I am using RITEK media (TDK), DVD-Rs. To answer the obvious questions right off the bat, I understand Windows Service Pack 3 makes your computer more vulnerable via holes in the update. I didn't believe it until coincidentally I got my first ever virus not long after installing it. I was able to use a restore point, but I uninstalled the Service Pack right away. Nothing obvious I see except that the Ritek disks may not be the best choice. Try running ImgBurn. Select 'Write files/folders to disc'. Load/drag a file onto the window. Beneath the window click 'Test mode' and insert a DVD-R, set the speed to 4x and click the green button to start. All test mode does is check communication between the software and the burner - no actual burn takes place. Assuming no error message, un-check 'Test mode' and do an actual burn. If it fails, buy some Verbatim brand disks (preferably they say 'AZO' or 'Advanced AZO' on the package (don't buy their 'Value' series disks) and burn a disk. If it fails, copy the log file ('Help' > imgBurn logs..') and paste it at the ImgBurn Support Forum. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showforum=6
