    Hi guys,
I'm having some problems with the solderless Chameleon adaptor. I used to have a 1.0 Xbox that I modded with a solderless Chameleon adaptor 1.3 (ONLY pogo pins and contact on d0, no solders); after a month my Xbox died (it seems to turn on for a second with the fan spinning and then turns off) and as of today I don't know if it was the modhip or not (I had to desolder the pinholes in order to install the chip, it could have been that I have damaged the PCB in some way while using the desoldering braid, I'm not an expert).
So here's the problem: I bought a brand new Xbox 1.5 (or so I think, I live in Europe and bought it for Xmas), I've tried to install the Chameleon but the console reboots 2 times and then starts flashing red and green. The chip was flashed with Xecuter 4977 and worked fine on previous 1.0 Xbox. Tried switching the banks, but got the same result. If I remove the chip the console starts fine, so no damage at least :)
Any help to make my chip work (o to let it R.I.P. :))?
    Many thanks.

You'll need to reflash the chip with the newest bios you can find because maybe your old bios didn't support v1.5! Maybe you could use Evox M7 or the latest Xecuter.

The chip may be misaligned; this has happened to me on many an xbox. The D0 is not making good contact to take over the original bios and the bus is locked when the mod is in place. Try cleaning the contacts, I here that people are using a fiberglass pen or something; I just used a jeweler’s screwdriver and VERY GENTLY! Scratched the surface to scrape away the protective/anti corrosive coating on the xbox PCB. Be extremely careful or you can scratch off a trace, then its time for the magnifying glass, tons of patients and swearing before it gets fixed LOL.

The M7 or Xecuter2.4980 would be a nice upgrade to the bios, then you no longer need to patch your games.

Er... so if the light flashes red/green is the chip grounding to d0 in some way?
And more important.... do I need a programmer (I guess so, sigh...) to flash the bios? Could it be that the chip is grounding good to d0 but the Xecuter isn't compatible with 1.5 xbox? It sounds strange to me because 1.5 xbox was already on the market when i flashed my Chameleon with the Xecuter.
Sigh... I'm already thinking about a brand new chip :(

Humm… v1.5 heh? Not sure, but on the 1.1,1.2 the eject button flashes red and green when the chip is not making complete contact. When it makes good contact the box should boot as normal (like the chip is not even there) that’s assuming you flashed it externally. A red/green flashing eject button or a box that boots then reboots usually indicates bad chip alignment or bad bios install. You can buy just the matrix programmer and that will work with your Chameleon chip, make sure you use xp.exe to flash it, that can be downloaded from the xodous site. Try that before you buy another mod, I think the programmer is only $15 US. If there is something wrong with the mod the programmer will tell you when you verify the write to the chip, if it is bad then just buy another Chameleon. I am sure someone else here can answer if the Chameleon works with V 1.5, I am pretty sure it does.
