Cheers for putting my mind at rest did set it at 400 but it crashed so thought it was correct don’t suppose you know any good sites that list that sort of information Amd’s site waste of time takes you all week trying to find out the info
lol By setting it at 400 you basically tried setting it to 5GHZ! The chip has a 12.5x multiplier. The multiplier times the bus speed gives you your CPU speed. Wikipedia is a good place to find info on CPUs. Look for the list of pages like these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Athlon_X2_microprocessors
5 GHz I like the sound of that another quick question my friend if you don’t mind I’ve got this memory Kingston 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 Memory Non-ecc CL5 Unbuffered cp-z says its frequency is 357.2mhz thought it ran at 400mhz? Cheers for the info so far
Just like there is a CPU multiplier, there is a memory multiplier. Try setting the memory multiplier to 2.0 and it will run at 400Mhz, which is PC2-6400. Also if you want to get more clock speed now you know how. Just increase the BUS speed little by little. Of course, there are many facotrs involved in this. How much voltage you put through your CPU, your memory. How much speed your motherboard can handle, your Memory can handle. Also how good your cooling is, etc. Take a look through our overclocking thread.
Cheers again ill have a look later downloading something at the moment not really into the over clocking the pc is a media centre I’ve put together doesn’t need to go like a rocket don’t play games etc so happy as it is just wasn’t sure about the cpu and the memory speeds
