Hi, I was thinking about getting a Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz Prescott processor but then my friend told me to get an AMD. Now I know AMD does better with games and some othe rhtings so I would like some feedback on which one I would need for my tasks. Now I want to build a computer to play games such as Counter-Strike:Source, Far Cry, and maybe later when I get it Battlefield 2. Now I also want to run progrmas such as Azureus, Opera, Windows Media Player, and Bearshare. These progrmas are why I wanted to go with Intel. I would like to know if AMD would be better or Intel. This is the Intel http://www.newegg.com/product/Produ...FSB+Socket+478+Processor+Model+BX80546PG3000E and this is the AMD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535 . Now also My power supply is only 400 Watts I don't know if this will affect which chip to get. Also I would liek to know if my 400 watt power supply will be able to run one of tehse chips a gig of ram motherboard 200 Gb ATA hard drive and a 256 MB video card. Also which one of these Video cards are better this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150106 or this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131420 or this one http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1240060&CatId=0 ? In advance, thanks for any help. :D

my AMD has never caused me problems ,there both good .and i would NEVER buy off tiger direct you would def. be better off with the card from newegg. there lots of good cards out there just spend as much as you can afford as the old saying goes "You Get What You Pay For" and heres my specs. BUT my card was about 600 bucks

I'm happy with the P4 that I have right now, but yeah... both P4 and AMD are good. About the Video card, do some online google and see if you find one that fits your need (including the money).

Hi, Well guys thanks for the reponces. I've decided to go with the AMD 64 3200+. Now with the video card I'm going with the Powercolor x800GT. My only question is, can my 400 watt power supply all of this? This includes the processor, video card, motherboard, a dvd+rw/cd-rw drive, a 300 GB ata-133 Hard Drive and a gig of ram? Thanks again for your help.

Hey, thanks for reply. Well actually I have three fans running. One is part of the power supply. The other one is under the power supply in the back and one is on the side. I think these should be enough. Also one more thing. do you think it would also be okay if I bought a 3500+ processor instead of the 3200+? And thanks again for all your help. :D

the 3500 would work great BUT i dont really think you will notice that much difference between the 3500 and the 3200 just depends on what you want to spend

Well, I asked my friend and he said the 400 watt power supply wouldn't have enought juice for a 3500+ so looks liek I'll go with the 3200+.
