I never heard of this box, I use andriod mx box which does pretty much the same thing as the box you're checking out , if you are getting an android tv box for the first time, check out piopat tutorial in android forums give a guide To what mx boxes can do . paulie57 .........
Thanks for the reply paulie! I looked into MX BOX, but doesn't have any modular adapter right? Wetek had my attention on that matter. I'm confused on what to buy.
I'm not to sure about newer models ,I'm using first gen box and doesn't have it ,if you drop a post in newbies guide to android boxes , some of the guys are using a different type boxes and are sure to have come across what you're looking for , by the way what exactly does modular adp give you ? Gizmondo look at the box you were checking out , does that box come pereloaded as in Xbox/ kodi and also you want to check can u install repos via USB ?
I have to ask. A modular adapter on an android stick/box etc. why were you looking for one on it Gizmondo? I should have added these boxes work via internet only sorry. What you mention is satellite only.
i take it the modulator is to attach an antenna (aerial ) for terrestrial broadcasts such as freeview , i did try to look at specs and SOME wetek models have the modulator but not all , so its not statndard across all models . also the specs dont specify (atleast that i have seen ) if the terrestrial modulator covers both mpeg 4 and mpeg 5 , if its mpeg 4 only while it will work fine for uk freeview it wont work for saorview in ireland . and other models are dvb s2 (satellite compatable ) so these boxes are combo boxes . https://wetek.com/product/wetek-play
I went to their forums to read some things about the installations of openELEC, Custom roms .... The box come with Android TV with Kodi already installed. it has 3 USB ports. So i think its possible to install repos. i sent a email to one of the users there. Waiting for a anwser: @piopat In their website, you can choose between 3 models. Without modular TV or 2 of them with. It seems a interesting device.
Yeah, they released the openELEC 5.0.4 today. They are a sponsors of kodi and openELEC This is a good thing. It will have updates.
you can also get an android box that has sly input, cccam,oscam etc but i have a sat box and android so no need for one
I've not heard of werek... why not try WD TV or so? If you already got a game console like PS, it can also be used as media server connected to TV.
Sorry guys Had family problems, so i forgot a little about this. ..... So, i've started to search a little more about Wetek, and wow, since i've created the thread, this brand had a boom! everyone is talking about this! linuxsat satsupreme avgforum satellites uk and many more. It seems that, openELEC + TVHeadend is a go for everyone! It can make dual boot, openELEC and android. The tuners work very well with openelec, and it seem's i can have a all in one STB
wetek are linux sponsors thats the main reason they are talking about it , untill they were their sponsors they didnt show much interest really . i cant speak for the other sites mentioned . with any box you should always check the specs (specifications) for example one box may have 1gb memory while another only has 500mb , when it comes to android and xbmc the more memory the better .
hi guys gizmondo i dont know if you got a wetek yet, but if your still unsure i checked out a site cnx-software.com and a guy in here a has done 3 month trial on behalf on the maker and he has a good pros and con tut , he goes on to say that some of the old firmware gave a bit of trouble , but the makers have said that they have sorted that issue out .so maybe worth checking out if havent got one yet , if you have let us know how its going ........ cheers ... paulie57 .........
