Sorted out my PC and used Nero 5.5 with DVD plug in. I was using DVD Decryptor and DVD2One and it created the Video_TS file. When I went to burn I followed that Chris guys tutorial to the tee and it burned successfully.

However when I went to play it back I discovered although it had copied ok it had just copied the sub folders etc and hadn't actually turned it into film. Why??

Re-installed Nero 6 again and although I have successfully burned disc-to-disc whenevr I use Nero Recode as this seemed the easiest it codes the film etc but when it says starting burn process it comes up with message "Driver in use with other programme" Burn successfull but obviously it hasnt copied anything.

I really am at a loss after using recode originally and everything being hunky-dory.

Someone please help..... Have a Pioneer A06 and with some Nero 5etc does not register but it did with me but just copied sub folders etc.

How good is Decryptor for just burning the iso file anyway?? No-one talks of using this for burning?

If recode isnt working for me on Nero 6 can I just burn the file or will it just copy the folder again?

Do not understand your first post......you say it played ok but only contains the sub folders and no film.....!!!!!!!...could you elaborate a little and be a little more precise.....

Do you mean, you had a VIDEO_TS folder and when you opened it up it contained another VIDEO_TS folder???? and no vob/ifo/bup etc...

Yeah stuck it in DVD player, just spun and spun.

Put it in PC and pressed explore and basically it just had Video_TS folder and when I double clicked that just opened up all the files.

Sorry BaaBaa.....my heads gone a bit!

So it wouldn't play, but after opening up the VIDEO_TS folder you had vobs/ifo and bup files in there......

The main folder VIDEO_TS - was this in CAPTIALS or lower case?????

It has to be in CAPS in order to work......

Which setting did you use at the website - UDF/ISO or UDF only?..........I found on older versions of Nero, the UDF only option had the best compatability chance....

Haven't used recode so I could not comment on that.....

Was in capitals but used UDF/ISO.

Why is it so fraught with difficulties!!

Once it is down to size it should be like copying cd's.............!

Well the dvd 'standard' is VERY different than cd's - multiple layered streams within the data...

Also the authoring that is required.....similar to vcd/svcd but MORE advanced as you can imagine....

I am not anti-Nero but a program that requires soooooooooo many updates and 'bug' fixes suggests to me the 'run before you can walk' syndrome.......but that is just my opinion cos I encountered similar probs with Nero 5.....

However V6 is supossed to be an improvement and also I have heard positive things about Recode.....

I stick with what works for me and that is:
    Dvd Decrypter
    Dvd2one
    Recordnow DX

Complete process, start to finish - approx 40mins....

you know DVD2One - before you pick what audio you want if my memory serves me correct it gives a list of channels and asks which one you want to pick?? One is much larger than the others but you cant select them all.... does that matter?

may download that recordnow progg.......do u have a link?

    cheers

It depends on what you have ripped previously on what selections you have available to make.....and if you choose to do the 'full disc' or not.

If you choose the 'full disc' then you can select which audio to retain, it is normal for the 2ch to contain the directors commentary (this is normally stated) so you can ditch that....
The one to really keep is the 6ch english (depending on your country etc, I assume you are in the UK, according to your nick)as this is the 'lowest' Mb....
However if you have a seperate amp you could also keep the 'DTS' (this is larger in Mb)...
Or you could retain both......like I do....

I only retain the movie as a backup, as the extras are not a priority for me.....so I can retain the best possible quality and sound streams.......

I rip in file mode with dvd decrypter (movie only) this means it only rips the IFO and relative VOBS.....

Now the IFO will normally contain references to other crap which will be listed (if you select movie only), but nearly always the top selection is for the movie so you should select that one (usually shows the no. of chapters and total length of video in hrs/mins).

Then you can select the audio/subs etc....

I retain the 6ch english ALWAYS and the DTS when available....retain angle 1 and no subs....

For Recordnow DX etc goto http://www.orlogix.com/support_download.php?type=trial&pn=rndx for a 30 day trial (this is a full version)......

I initially got this software from here....and I must say it has been worth shelling out the dosh for......

You can goto http://www.chrismccann.co.uk for a simple guide which I wrote and should produce a nice result.........

    Hope this helps.

Cheers baabaa. Well I seem to have got on track somewhat. This is a post I just put in the media thread - dont know whether this was a contributing factor

"Been using these with my Pioneer A06 and with two films I have backed up, they have played perfectly until around the last ten minutes where they have skipped eratically.

I know its not the back up I did as with both I also burned to a normal DVD -R.

Its strange as for the rest of the film the picture was A1. I did think it was my backup until I tested the other disks. Wierd "

When it started skipping my heart sunk, but as for some reason I also burned a copy on the same project and this plays ok, I assume part of the problem was the RW disks which seems strange.

I will give your burning method a crack. I have used DVD Decryptor to also read and write an ISO file. No one talks about burning with Decryptor......it is ok to do though is it??

Thanks for your patience and help!

Never really used rw's to burn video to......as I thought I would get a method for the -r right.......meant a couple of coasters initially but try/try again is my motto.....

It may be down to the overall size of the files that could be causing problems.....

I limit mine to 4400Mb in dvd2one....with nice results.....

May also be down to the media brand that you are using aswell......what brand is it?

I hear memorex make a reliable rw.....

The dvd decrypter method of burning (ISO) is fairly successful....I used this in the past for dvd5 dvd's and worked very well.......but I think with all the other software around now, it has become less popular as most burners are supplied with some form of burning software and users tend to use them.....

Hope you have a good one.......any more q's just post.......
