i use avg anti-virus . the pro edition . i dont know if its any better than norton or not. it seems like it uses less system resources than norton does.
you can download a free trial version here http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_avg_index.php it seems to work pretty good for me. i had norton 2004 , but i was having start up and shut down problems with it ,so i decided to give avg a try and found it works pretty good. again i dont know if its really any better than norton or not !

goto www.avast.com the software is free with unlimited automatic updates. You just have to register (name, email etc.) about every 14 months you have to reregister. No spyware and no spam from them. it is very good and always current. It caught several viruses at our company before norton's.

I don't think there will be a great difference as i have had several Norton's anti virus programes currently running 2004.There does not seem to be that many differances to set the world a light to be honest. In all honesty i'm considering a change when my year subscription to updates ends.

I had Norton and later switched to AVG (free edition) because it's...well "free" and works just as good as Norton.

My company writes security software and so we have to test against anti-virus because we work at a lower level than them. In our opinion the best anti-virus out there is Sophos - it is the most efficient in terms of code and resources used.

Their is no chance in hell AVG (free edition)is better than Norton. I say this through expeirence.

I had that AVG (free edition) and I got Trojan viruses (4 I might add) that AVG did not want to delete of my system, it seemed AVG (free edition) didn't want nothing to do with.

So I got Norton and Norton started kicking the shit out of those viruses.

Even though it's free... trust me, youll get somthing back for their free serves.
