I have been using Nero Vision 3 + 4 for a while now but its died on me because when I transocde and save, it finishes after 3 hours but it doesn't save fully, only saves like 2 gig when it should be 4 gig like it said, The question is, is there any alternative DVD maker like Nero Vision?

you could use tpmgenc dvd author

    to put in the menus

    doesnt encode though

unless its mpg and you patch em

nero should work though - mine does

DVD Lab Pro - simply the best software for authoring I have ever used. You need to have mpeg's which you can convert your avis to using TMPGEnc but within DLP you can resize your mpg's upto 70% so that you can fit say tv episodes to a dvd.

You can create your menus and scene selections menus etc etc etc. It is the most powerful, intuitive, user friendly program I have used and as will be seen by many of my posts I simpy cannot recommend this software enough!!

EDIT: I have written a comprehensive guide to the basics of DVD Lab Pro here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/331328

Also, if simple, basic & combined with a general burning feature set is what you need, try GEAR Video 8.
    It's very cheap - $70 or so - and a 30 day version is available at www.gearsoftware.com

    Why did Nero die?
are you trying to write large files to a FAT16 or FAT32 drive?
