I need to backup 4 or five images, the smallest is about 3.5 Gb. I don't have a dvd burner. is there any way to fit these files onto a normal cd?
i wouldn't know what math to do. i didn't figure it was possible, so i was planning on buying a dvd burner this weekend. thanks anyways
There is a way to do it, WinRAR would be the best bet to compress and split the files into individual rar files (like 15-30mb each) I've seen 3+GB games compressed to 1+GB, 3-4cds no bother. Am afraid i don't have the full knowledge on how you actually do this but i do know it's very much possible.
winrar http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250_4-10427683.html?tag=lst-0-1 p4_tt is correct.. i'm not very familiar with it.. but you can set the size that you can split these up into.
well i need to be fairly sure that this will work. i have winrar, but i'm not familiar with it either. i don't want to compress these things and have them all be corrupt.
yeah but i was hoping for someone to kind of explain to me how winrar works. someone that knows how to do it, because i have no idea what i'm doing
use 7-Zip this utility is FREE and has the supposably most 'compact' storage format of .7z i suggest you get it, i use it... it can handle all of the other common archive formats and is soon to be updated, i recommend... try it out and tell us how you find it <!..!>
yes ! http://www.7-zip.org/ not a link but the site itself ! hope it works for you, make sure to read any tutorials you can find...
