my friend has this, which hes lettin me use to dump audio/video folders from vhs tapes i've recorded to my pc using the win tv PVR usb 2 tuner/capture box. all of them are mpgs, but when i drop files SOME videos in the browser, tmpgenc says that the file is illegal? why is it saying that? i have recorded all of the videos the same as the *illegal* ones. the other mpgs have successfully been dumped, but how can i get past this illegal blockade so that i can dump these mpgs to audio/video folders, to use with dvd shrink?>

    thanks

The problem may be that you are mixing stuff together in the same track. It doesn't like files of different resolutions or even audio format mixed within one track.
If that's not it, then there is something else different about the files. I've used this program for years and as long as I feed it legal DVD compatible MPGs it never complains.
