I'm using the lateset versions of the 2 mentioned softwares. My problem is that about 50% into the writing it fails due to bad media. I have tried several different types of blank dvd's with no success. I have an hp a747c desktop computer running windows xp, and i'm logged in as the adminastrator. It has a pentium 4 proccessor and is only about 1.5 years old. Does anyone have a clue as to what my problem is? I've tried the software on another computer that was a little older than mine and it works fine. Could someone please help me get started.
Hello, first off, why are you using those programs to copy a PS-2 game? You can use DVD Decrypter. Just hit mode, ISO read (burns to HDD), then ISO write (burns to blank media). Next how do you know it's because of bad DVD's? What error are you getting. Now, what media are you using? You say you tried different ones but don't say which ones. What are the manufact codes (DVD Decrypter will tell you when you put the disc in the drive).
I'm not trying to copy games cds. I'm attempting to copy my dvd movies. As far as error code goes, clonedvd just says "failure to write due to bad media". I have tried hp, maxwell and memorex dvd blanks, both -r and +r. Sorry about the confusion. I'm new to this type of forum and new to making backups if my movies, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Ok, you posted in the PS2 back-up forum, that's why I thought that. Next, make sure that Any DVD is up to date. Also, be sure that your DVD drive's firmware is updated (maybe someone can help me out with a link). Also, you may want to try another brand, you NEED to stay away from Memorex, do a search on the site and you will find what media is good, bad, or ugly. I stay with TY [Taiyo Uiden (spelling?)], or Sony made in Japan. Vebatim is supposed to be very good as well.
I've tried to update my firmware for my lite on dvd=rw sohw 8225, following HP's instructions. My problem is that when i due this it responds by saying that it cant find the program that wrote the RENU file. I'm using SonicRecord now version 7 dot something. Is it possible to find a website that could update it for me?
Okay, on the HP website, it only shows a SOHW 822s for your model of computer (a747c). So I'll put the link to that site, but check your model numbers, where did you get that model number from? If you have Nero, please post a burn log from something recent. Here's that link to HP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&x=0&dlc=en&product=435561&lang=en&y=0&os=228 Good luck.
Ok, I got my dvd writer upgraded from a liteon 822s to liteon 832s. But I still get the same error message "failure due to bad media" I've tried sony disc both +r and -r with no success. One thing to note is that one of the files I downloaded replied " Unable to flash firmware" I'm not sure what that means. Thanks.
I'm not sure I understand, did you upgrade your firmware to an 832s, or did you actually change the drive itself? If you had an 822s, all you had to do was follow that link and download the firmeware for the 822s. You say "one of the files" you downloaded didn't work, how many did you download, and which ones? Which ones worked and didn't work. You only needed to get that one file from the link. Also, are the Sony's made in Japan or Taiwan? Is it just one movie you're trying or different ones? What movie(s) are they?
I found a cross patch code for turning my liteon 822s into a liteon 832s drive. As for the disk Im using, I'm unsure where they are manufactured. Is it possible I did not update the firmware when I used the crosss patch on my 822s drive? I apologize for lack of information, it just that I'm doing entering this forum from my work comp and my home comp is the one i am having the problem with.
No problem, I'm at work myself. So, you flashed your drive to an 832s, I'm not sure but I think it's possible that you may need to update the frimware for an 832s. Before you update the firmware, you MUST make sure that you did, indeed, flash the drive to an 832s. I think if you go to My Computer, right click on the drive, then go to the Hardware tab, you should see it. After you double check, here's the link to update the firmeware on the 832s. http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=153 Also, you missed a couple of questions from my last post, please try to answer them if possible. Thanks.
Sorry it took so long for me to respond. i did flash my drive to a sohw-832s and i updated to the latest firmware oer the link you gave me. I still can't make copies though. Details for the failure to wrote due to bad media is "writeDVD 10 11 w2" Does this help? Also should I i set the quality setting to dvd-5 or should I use another setting?
If you're using regular, single layer discs then DVD-5 is where it should be. If you ever buy dual layer discs, turn it to DVD-9. I would like you to try something, using the programs in my sig, instead of DVD Clone. You need all four if you don't already have them. I know it seems like a lot, but it's really not that hard. After you download and install (when needed)and make sure there up-to-date, first use DVDFab to rip it to your hard drive (take out your original disc when it's done). Then open VOBlanker, choose the files you just ripped for input, and choose an empty folder for ouput (where you want the new files). Cilck "proc all" on the right side, then click "process." Once that's done, put your blank disc in, open shrink, click "open files" then choose the files VOBlanker just made. There are tons of guides for shrink if you don't know how to use it, just do a search on AD. If you want the whole disc, just click "back up" and I like to choose "make ISO and copy with DVD Decrypter." Select your folder for temp files and set any other options you like, then click "back up" or start or whatever it is. Presto! You should have a working back up. Let me know what happens. Good luck.
Ok i'm trying your way. one question, when i choose the file for the voblanker do i choose only the video files or do i have to do it twice...onece for video and second time for audio. or is there a way to just select both at the same time.

You only have to choose the Video TS file (that's all there is anyway). One problem I see is that your hard drive is in FAT32. I had the same problem when mine was, it can't process anything over 4 gigs (which most movies are). There is a way to convert your HDD to NTFS without losing all your info. You can do it in DOS, but I don't remember the command. Maybe someone can help me out here, or do a search on it (AD or google). Let me know.
vwsport80 i hate to be a spoiled sport.. about 70% of the movies i did are using fat 32 using clonedvd and windows 2000 so far there is no movie i can not copy.. and converting to NTFS ye will lose data.i would not do it.. but if ye must here it is.. To convert a volume to NTFS from the command prompt Open a command prompt window. In the command prompt window, type convert drive_letter: /fs:ntfs Notes To open a Command Prompt window, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt
Can I purchase a hard drive thats not fat32 for my computer? Any reccomendations? Maybe external if possible.
I just checked my hard drive it says it has a capacity of 143 gg and 122 gg available. Wouldn'tthat be nough space to make a temp folder for the files?
